When I first laid eyes on the Dust Deputy, I said to myself, "Self... if this thing really works it will be amazing!"  So, being the professional I am, I purchased one to play with.  And I wasn't disappointed in the least.  In fact, it not only works but beyond my expectations!  The Dust Deputy is an accessory for your shop vacuum that pre-filters dust and debris before it reaches your shop vac's filter.

One of the most annoying things about a shop vac (aside from the crappy hoses) is how quickly it loses power once the filter gets covered with dust, especially very fine dusts such as router-generated dust, masonry or drywall compound dust.  And the nightmare of suffocating dust when you try to clean it!!

The Dust Deputy solves that problem by circulating the dust-laden air through a centrifugal chamber that, through the magic of gravity, causes the dust to slow down enough to drop to the bottom of the attached bucket.  Only a tiny amount of dust continues into your shop vac.  No fuss, no muss, and no need to hose yourself off in the backyard before your "significant other" will allow you into the house... with our apologies to your dear neighbors who were looking forward to the show!

Oneida Air Systems also offers a lower-level model with just the cyclonic accessory (no bucket or hoses) as well as a complete model that includes the vacuum.  Knowing that most of us already have a shop vacuum, I dropped the powered version from consideration.  Considering the small price difference, I realized it was silly to make our winners hunt down a bucket and hoses.... PLUS the bucket they send you has a lid that is much easier to remove than the typical large drywall bucket, making emptying it much easier.
