Bead Stix from CaulkSaver.com
Bead Stix contest on Naturalhandyman.com

Okay.  I suppose if you saw these Bead Stix in a small vase (such as in the graphic to the left), you'd wonder if these were the tackiest fake flowers ever!  Or if you used your imagination, you might think they were the world's biggest ear cleaners... O-tips??  Or very odd wine corks?

Sorry.  Wrong, wrong and wrong.  Bead Stix from CaulkSaver.com are the first real advancement in caulk application since the squeeze tube!   Bead Stix are made to smooth caulk in a way that even  experienced fingers (such as mine with what-seem-like miles of caulk-smoothing experience) cannot match.

I first tried these about 6 months ago when I was helping a close friend do a little pre-sale prep on their condo.  She had about sixty feet of baseboard radiator that had an obnoxiously uneven gap between the top of the radiator and the wall.  Once I fastened the radiators as tightly as possible to the wall,  I realized that filling the remaining gap was the best way to "finish" the job prior to painting.

It took less time to smooth the caulk than it did to apply it and the finished job looked so good that if we were we not painting anyway, we wouldn't have had to!  That's how neatly a well-used Bead Stix can complete a potentially sloppy caulk job!  Used with water-based caulks and thoroughly cleaned after each use, each Bead Stix will each last for many jobs and easily smooth hundreds of feet of caulk on smooth surfaces.

On rough surfaces, they will wear more quickly, as you would expect.  Also, using them with silicone caulks, oil-based caulks or adhesives will not give as good results.  I would not personally recommend using them with non-water-based products.  (Again, this is my personal opinion, not the manufacturer's.)

I was so impressed with this simple product that I could not resist introducing to you, my dear readers, through a contest.  So I am giving away a set of  3 Bead Stix to 6 lucky winners.    GOOD LUCK!!
